ISO 9001:2015 standard

The ISO 9001:2015 Standard prepared by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), specifies the requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS) that can be used for internal application by organizations, regardless of whether the product or service It is provided by a public organization or private company, whatever its size, for certification or contractual purposes.

Depending on the country, the same “ISO 9001” standard can be called differently, adding the name of the body that represents it within the country: UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015 (Spain), IRAM-ISO 9001:2015, etc., accompanied by the year of the last update of the standard

Adaptation to the new ISO 9001:2015 standard

 

The ISO 9001:2015 standard was published on September 23, 2015. Now it is necessary to start with the transition works, which is not an easy task.

The new ISO 9001 2015 brings very important changes, although the most notable is the incorporation of risk management or the risk-based approach in Quality Management Systems. Although it is a technique normally applied in organizations, until now it was not aligned with the SGC.

The ISO 9001 version 2015 standard can already be implemented in an organization, although there is a 3-year transition period that is especially relevant for those that have a current certificate under ISO 9001:2008.

It is very important not to leave all the work for the end of the aforementioned period, as you can put your organization’s quality certificate at risk.
